About SWOAFP |
The January 16, 2002 meeting turned out to be a “bad news/good news” event. The bad news came early that morning in a report that our featured speaker from Chicago was very ill. He gallantly offered to come in anyway, but we took a rain check (for March – see below). The good news was that SWOAFP Vice President Sarah Burton was able to assemble and moderate a fine agenda of timely Treasury topics for roundtable discussions. After a tentative start, the 30+ attendees ended up in lively and very informative discussions of Treasury Workstations, Debt Market Environment, Disaster recovery in the wake of September 11th. We had a lot of great comments afterwards about the meeting and the fine job Sarah did on such short notice.
Our February 20 meeting at the Academy of Medicine in downtown Cincinnati
features a topic that ranked high on the Spring, 2001 membership survey:
corporate purchasing cards. Jim Donohue, CCM, Director of Business Development,
MasterCard North America will present “Emerging Trends in Corporate Card
Products and Transaction Data Integration”. This presentation will look at
the trends in corporate credit card and data management products and provide an
overview of the tools that exist to build efficiencies. For more information,
see our February Meeting Page:
Next Month: Our March 20th meeting will feature our guest speaker rescheduled from January: Dr. William T. (Bill) Wilson of Earnst & Young, LLP, Chicago presenting “Bulls, Bears and Animal Spirits: An Outlook for 2002”. Dr. Wilson is a nationally renowned economic forecaster, finishing near the top of many major surveys (such as The Wall Street Journal’s blue chip forecasts) over the past five years. He is a frequent author of business periodicals and journal articles, including a syndicated column in the Detroit News that ran for five years.
Also in March, we’ll be teaming up with the
Cincinnati Chapter of Risk and Insurance Management Society (“RIMS”) for the
meeting. The SWOAFP and RIMS share many of the same interests, concerns and
members. We’re excited and extremely pleased to be able to host the
meeting. Please join us in welcoming our friends from RIMS. (The
March 20 meeting will be held at the Marriott Kingsgate Center U.C. at the usual
time, 4 pm). For
more information, see our March Meeting Page:
