About SWOAFP

The Cincinnati Treasury Management Association has been fortunate to host some of its best sessions ever over the past few months.  The September, 2001 session about Bank Internet Applications (see the September Newsletter) was followed in October with Doug Davidson (aka Devious Doug) from Bank of America.  Doug took us through the dark side of the credit card world, revealing astonishing techniques the “bad guys” use to defraud banks, businesses, and individuals.

Last month, we “let our hair down”, as it were, and presented Mr. Keith Matheny, Motivational Speaker. After a wonderful dinner, Keith challenged us to “Overcome the Impossible”.  His demonstrations were spellbinding – and no, we don’t know how he did it.  Did what?  Among other things, after mingling for an hour or so during dinner, Keith named each and every guest by first name (approximately 80 of us!).  The other thing that folks are still asking us about: he wrapped his head/eyes in layer after layer of blindfolding material (including coins, fabric, tape) he described in very fine detail a photograph being held by a member of the audience – a photograph that member obtained from yet another member.  His other demonstrations of the power of the human mind and his compelling motivational anecdotes were indeed motivational.  It was a delightful evening in the beautiful Holiday setting of The Vernon Manor.

This month, we welcome from Ernst & Young, Chicago, one of the most respected…and accurate…economists in the nation.  Dr. William T. Wilson is seen/heard frequently on the national television and radio networks.  In national business surveys, he has finished near the top of many major surveys (such as The Wall Street Journal’s blue chip forecasts) over the past five years.  In fact, he was listed again the first week of January 2002!  Dr. Wilson  will be our guest speaker for our annual economic update, giving us his outlook on the economy including Fed policy,  credit markets, and the global economy.

Keep checking this website for additional news on upcoming meetings.  We have great Winter and Spring lineups!

Board Notes

Remember, the SWOAFP Executive Board holds its meetings immediately after every presentation during the season. Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions for the Association or upcoming meetings.

Please let any Board member know if you are interested in volunteering for a Board position or Committee Chair for our 2002-2003 season.  Most, if not all, of the positions require a minimum time commitment and are very rewarding – not to mention a few more CCM Credits for volunteering at the Regional level!
