September
2003
First meeting of the 2003/2004 season
Our September meeting featured
Howard Silverstone with Kroll Inc., Financial Risk Consultants.
Howard’s insight into the forensic accounting profession was very
informative as well as entertaining.
Second meeting of the season
NACHA related
topics ranked very high on our recent membership survey.
Our upcoming meeting on Wednesday, October 15th will feature
an update on the latest issues surrounding check conversion and truncation.
Rob Hayden and Christine Adkins with KeyBank will present “Changes
in the Payment Industry - What it Means to Me”.
December meeting
Due to the AFP
annual conference held November 2-5 in
New Orleans
, we will not hold a November session.
December’s meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd
and will again feature Ann Marie Sabath. Ann
Marie’s presentation at least year’s December meeting received rave reviews.
This year, her presentation is entitled “Avoiding The Most
Commonly-Made Faux Pas When Facilitating Meetings And Interviews”
We will be sending you more information on the December meeting in the
coming weeks.
Continuing education credits
As we reported last month, the
national AFP recently changed the CCM designation to the CTP (Certified Treasury
Professional) designation. We will
present more on this change at the beginning of the October meeting.
Continuation of
the “Reel In”
Membership Drive
We hope to continue
expanding our membership base in 2004 and ask that our current members help us
to spread the word. If you refer a
qualified referral to become a member of the SWOAFP, you will receive tickets for
two and refreshments to the movies (National Amusements).
You can direct interested parties to our membership chairpersons, Rob
Brooks or David Miller, or direct them to the website at www.swoafp.org
for a membership application and association details.
Proposed by-law
changes
We will be asking
the membership to approve a number of minor by-law changes relating primarily to
member information delivery (e-mail vs.
U.S.
mail), guest registration, and board
indemnification. Details regarding
the change will be presented at the next meeting and can be found at www.swoafp.org.
