Please join the SWOAFP for an informative overview of how the Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati serves as the main Contact Center for literacy programs across the tri-state area (OH/KY/IN).
Per their website, the LNGC champions the development of literacy in the individual, the family, the workplace, the school, and around the community, by raising awareness, improving access, and serving as a catalyst for regional literacy efforts.
A shocking 15-20% of the local population struggles with basic reading skills. The Literacy Network is a 501c3 Nonprofit Corporation, based in downtown Cincinnati, that works as the coordinating body for a coalition of more than 100 public and private agencies, plus more than 40 area schools, to connect and support literacy programs across the tri-state.
Michelle Otten Guenther, President of the LNGC, also serves as the CEO of the Queen City Book Bank, a new initiative launched by two of the most active literacy nonprofits in the region, the Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati and Blue Manatee Literacy Project.
Michelle received both her B.A. in Organizational Leadership and her M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Xavier University. She is a former high school history teacher, a proud Cincinnatian, and an enthusiastic volunteer. She is passionate about education and believes in the power of collaboration to design lasting solutions to today’s challenges.
The Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati was just this week honored with Mayor John Cranley’s "2021 Volunteer Organization of the Year"!
